SECOND APPLE PIE.

The unicorn lived in a lilac wood, and she lived there alone. She was very old, though she did not know it, and she was no longer the careless color of seafoam, but rather the color of snow falling on a moonlit night. But her eyes were still clear and unwearied, and she still moved like a shadow on the sea.

5 Jackets You’ll Wear Forever by secondapplepie
1.  Denim Jacket — It adds subtle colour to an outfit, it’s light enough that you can wear it as a completing piece, and, like George Clooney, it gets better-looking with age.  You can even wear it with more denim, as long as it isn’t an exact match.  It’s not 1979 anymore.2.  Mid-length Parka —  There comes a time in your life when walking around looking like an eskimo doesn’t matter anymore, as long as you’re warm.  For me, that age was around 17.  Luckily, companies like North Face get that looking like the Michelin Man cramps our style, and have put these beauties on the market.  They’re sleek enough that your arms don’t stick straight out at your sides, and they’re long enough so that your ass doesn’t freeze to the bench while tying up your skates at an outdoor rink.3.  Black Boyfriend Blazer — You can dress it up or down, wear it to the office, on a date, or to a club.  You’ll always look classy, even if you’re falling-down-the-stairs drunk.4.  Statement Trench — Yeah, you could go for black, or beige.  You’ll still be able to wear either of those until the end of time.  But life is short, why not have some fun?  If you buy it in a primary shade (red, blue, or yellow) it will go with everything.  Forever.  Even when you think it clashes, it doesn’t.5.  The “Forever” Jacket — Let me explain: When I bought mine, the sales associate said, “This is a Forever Jacket.”  I of course asked what the hell she meant.  ”You’ll be able to pull it out of your closet 10 years from now, and it’ll still be in style and getting compliments.”  It doesn’t have to look like this one.  Mine’s silver.  Satin.  It’s dry-clean only, which you all know I hate.  And she was right.  I’ve had it for 4 years, and I’ve gotten a compliment on it every time I’ve worn it.  It’s not just any jacket, and it’s one of those pieces you might now even realize you have until 10 years down the line.

    Clinique Top 10 by secondapplepie
My cousin just got hired on at the Clinique counter in a department store.  I’m super happy for her (and admittedly excited for me) because I’m a total Clinique junkie and now I have someone to gush over their amazing products with.  I’ve put together a list of my top 10 products in celebration:
1.  Acne Solutions Oil-Control Cleansing Mask, $20 — This mask really gets in there and clears out your pores without having that weird smell that a lot of other acne masks do.  It comes of easily with warm water, revealing smooth, radiant, shine-free skin.2.  7 Day Scrub Cream, $18.50 — I know that a lot of other people dealing with acne struggle with blackheads.  I almost feel like all the product you have to put on your face to keep redness and inflamed blemishes at bay can make nasty blackheads even worse.  This scrub works wonders by clearing away dead skin without being so abrasive that it irritates/causes breakouts on sensitive skin.3.  Acne Solutions Clear Skin System Starter Kit, $34 — So I might have cheated, and this might count as three products.  But if you have problem skin and you’ve tried this system, you’ll forgive me.  I’ve been struggling with my skin for years.  And I’d exhausted every product in my drugstore isle before I finally came across this three-step system.  Unlike a lot of the products I was using, this system actually combines salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide to clear up your skin.  I think what I love most about it is that it’s effective, but not so harsh that it dries out my skin, causing flaking or redness.4.  Acne Solutions Emergency Gel-Lotion, $15 — This stuff is perfect during those times when your skin care system needs a little boost.  You can use it as a spot treatment or all over your face.  It gets rid of redness, inflammation, and pain caused by blemishes in an instant.5.  Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel, $15 — If your skin is like mine, those really nasty blemishes can leave dark spots behind.  The salicylic acid in this spot treatment breaks up the dark pigment while working its way down into your pores to help clear out any dead skin or dirt that is preventing healing.6.  Self Sun Body Tinted Lotion, $21 — Everyone knows how careful you have to be about sitting out in the sun, but if you’re fair like me you also have to be careful not to blind people with your pale legs when you pull out your shorts in the summer.  This stuff is easy to apply, and doesn’t streak, come off on your clothes, or turn you orange.7.  Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfecter, $18 — Oily skin?  Not any more.8.  SPF 45 Targeted Protection Stick, $19 — Anyone with a tattoo knows that you have to be extra careful in the sun as that skin is damaged.  You might also know that your average bottle of SPF 45 Coppertone goes on like a waterproof wool sweater.  This little stick is the perfect solution — no sticky, greasy sunblock here.9.  High Impact Mascara, $15 —  Even on those mornings when you’re running out the door without having slept the night before or time to shower, I like to apply a quick coat of mascara to freshen things up.  This mascara holds up all day (even through tears), and still comes off easily with soap and water.  AND, it provides nutrients and other good things for your lashes, keeping them long and luscious unlike some other mascaras that get cake-y and can cause breakage.10.  Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm, $16 — Lip balm is something that I never leave the house without.  I’m more likely to have it on me than I am to know where my keys are.  This particular balm is super moisturizing, with just the tiniest hint of sheer colour to brighten up your smile.
